Hello dear Trick-or-Treat author!

This is my first year in ToT, so this letter may not be what you're expecting. I've listed the fandom and characters we've matched on, then added relationships (optional), and prompts (also optional). They're really just places for you to start - something to catch your eye, perhaps, or something to challenge you.

I don't mind if it's a trick or a treat, take it light and fluffy, or take it dark - just keep in mind that while I don't mind a good dark/edgy story, I like there to be a little leavening at the end, a little hope!

In these canons, I'd prefer the story didn't have a specific Halloween slant, especially given that Rogue One, Pacific Rim, Merlin, and Stargate Atlantis happen in canon situations where Halloween would likely be less celebrated. (Also: I'm Australian: Halloween is becoming more popular here, but it's not a patch on the megaholiday status in the US.)

letter: still under revision )

I would also be good with any prompts from previous exchanges that match the parameters of this exchange. You can find my signups/letters at dear+fic+writer+letters if you're so inclined.

Ultimately, if none of these prompts take your fancy, then don't worry. Simply write the characters and fandom we matched on, and I'll be delighted to see your take on it!

that's a mouthful and a half! also: letter is WIP )

Ultimately, all these are suggestions, prompts for you to use if you can envision them. If you can’t, then just write the fandom and the character/pairing we matched upon and it’ll be fine.

Thanks so much for writing for me!

... I am so sorry that the link to my letter is broken. I forgot that I signed up, figured I missed the date, and deleted the link.

Thank you so much for writing for me. I hope that you don't stress about it, and enjoy both the process and the result.

MCU, DC Cinematic Universe, Harry Potter )

Please note, all these are suggestions - a jumping-off point. Don't feel you absolutely must come up with the scenarios I've depicted to please me; just write the fandom and the friendship that we've matched on the way you see it, and I will love reading the result!

Dear Creator,

Thank you for writing for me! I'm eager to see what you do with my prompts!

I love crossovers - whether one set of characters happens to end up in another universe, or the two universes have always co-existed, or characters from one universe have been transplanted into another!

I've set up this letter talking about the fandoms I've nominated, the things I like about them, and my favourite characters/scenarios from them. Hopefully you can work from that.

If I mentioned something in the sign-up but haven't touched on it in the letter, then it just means I didn't manage to properly replicate from one platform to the other. Just go with whichever is easier for you.

wants, DNWs, fandoms, characters, thoughts, ideas )

Please do not take any of the ideas as prescriptive. They're ideas, not requirements - if you can do them, great! If you can't, just avoid the Do Not Wants, and it'll be all good!

Look, we matched on fandoms because we liked the characters and/or the worldbuilding. So write, have fun, don't stress, and I look forward to enjoying your work when it's done!

Hello dear author!

Thank you so much for writing for me - I really appreciate the effort you're going to put into this! Writing AUs is always tricky for the amount of backstory that has to go into them (particularly for fusion AUs), and I love seeing the work in little bits and pieces through your story!

My primary desire for all these requests is a story about the women.

MCU and TV, Buffy and Angel, Merlin )

So all of these are just ideas; if you can't manage any of them, then please go for the character/relationship and the AU that we matched on, and write what you can.

I look forward to reading your work!

Dear Author,

Thank you so much for writing for me! I'm so glad you like Diana (you'd kind of have to because she's in all my options) and I hope that you enjoy the process of this exchange!

Please remember that pretty much everything but the Do Not Wants (DNWs) is optional.

dear author )

Ultimately, I love these characters and these dynamics and would really like to see stories about them, so if you can't do the specific scenarios I've given, then just write them how you see them and we'll be cake by the ocean!

Dear Author,

These are guidelines more than anything else (except the DNWs): please keep that in mind while reading!

requests )

These are all JUST IDEAS, by the way! Ultimately, write the characters and relationship we matched on in the way you see their relationship and we'll be fine.

Thanks so much for writing for me, dear Author!

Dear Author,

Thank you so much for writing for me - we have matched on some characters or character dynamics that I adore, and I hope that you likewise adore them, and that this assignment will not be a big arduous thing for you, but something fun and enjoyable and satisfying. I will most definitely be appreciative of whatever you've written for me, because these dynamics don't often get written, and so it's a pleasure to read a new take on it!

Note: if you see something that you know I've asked and received before, then please know that there are some bunnies I really like and I want to see all the options and iterations possible for them!

I've tried to keep this simple... )

Basically, write the relationship dynamic that we matched on in a scenario that illustrates the respect and friendship and affection that the characters have for each other (possibly tinged with aggravation, frustration, and the desire to smack someone over the nose) and I will be delighted to get your story!

Dear MCU AU Writer,

Welcome and thank you for writing for me! Before you click on the cut, please remember that apart from the pairing and the AU specified, my ideas are all OPTIONAL. If you can write the ideas I've put down, then by all means go for it! If you find they're not in your style, then just go for whatever you envision as the relationship and the AU and it will be fine! Considering how rare these relationships are, I will be OVER THE MOON that anyone has written about them at all.

pairings and AUs )

Once again, if none of these ideas fly with you, go with the character dynamic that we've matched on, in the AU scenario listed. You're writing a dynamic that is implied but unexplored in canon, and which has correspondingly minimal fanon, so just run with your ideas and I'll be glad to get the fic!

Hey there, thanks for writing for me!

fandoms, pairings, tropes )

In the end, write to the characters and the tropes in a way that you find hot, and it will come through in the story!

Thanks for writing for me! However you do this, have fun with it, go wild, and I hope you enjoy writing the story as much as I'll enjoy reading it!

MCU, Black Jewels, Rogue One, Dragonriders of Pern )

Finally, I asked for fanfiction, because I like the movement and mindset of characters, and in the best stories I've read the worldbuilding gets delicately structured around the characters as you tell whatever story you have in mind.

I hope this letter doesn't stress you out. Write about the part of the world that interests you, and I will read it with great interest and absolute fascination. Other people's worldcanons are always intriguing to me, because it betokens a different way of looking at the world and how everything fits together, and it's almost like getting to enjoy a new aspect of the original canon itself! So go wild!

And thank you very much.

This is a behemoth of a letter and I sincerely apologise. I've tried to detail the characters and the dynamics of the relationships we love, however, pretty much the core thing is that you don't stress about this assignment. Work it out as you can, and I will be delighted that you write something for me!

wants, do not wants )

fandoms: MCU, Black Jewels, Harry Potter, Buffy, Rogue One )

I know this is a lot to process! Don't feel that you absolutely must meet every last point - we both love these pairings (well, I love them, and I hope that you feel more than mild tolerance for them) so write something that makes you enthusiastic and I'll be glad to get it.

Thank you so much, dear author!

first things first

about the fic

I want female characters with agency and self-determination and choices as the centre point, pivot point, reason, and/or purpose of the story.

This first point is an absolute must; I don't want to hear how she needs help or love or children or something and finds it and it makes her a 'better' person, how she helps a couple of guys get together, or undertakes an endeavour where the point is her failure. I want something that's about the success of women, about the amazingness of the female, the feminine, and the feminist.

- depiction (in background or foreground) of het relationships where the guy respects and admires the female character and trusts her professionally, too.
- depiction of female friendships that can transcend the usual splitting points of men and beauty standards
- happy or hopeful endings

do not want
- non-con, dubcon, BDSM without consent negotiation
- female characters pushed to the back of the story
- bodily fluids, guro, etc.

updating )

Finally, please don't stress this. I want you to enjoy writing for me! These are ideas that I have, and I'm not hugely attached to them, so if you can write my optional details without twisting your brain in knots, go for it!

If you can't, then focus on the characters I've talked about and write your thing, and it will be fine.

Thank you!

First thing: I want you to stay calm if you're terrified of making something for me. STAY CALM.

Second thing: Everything in this letter (okay, except the requirement of Steve/Maria as a pairing) is OPTIONAL. If you can't do any of what I'm suggestion, go for what you can and don't stresss it.

Third thing: Thank you so very much for participating - our teeny tiny corner of fandom needs all the Maria/Steve we can produce! I will love whatever you've created because you've enlarged the fandom just that little bit.

So this is the year I go out on a limb. None of the usual suspects, a bunch of fandoms that I've never seen stories in, never read nor written, but would love to receive!

This year, I've been pretty brief on the requests, largely because these are fandoms I've never asked for before (with, perhaps, the exception of Ultimate Spider-Man) and I'm just a little curious to see what you'd do with these fandoms that we share.

Women's Hockey RPF, Bourne (Damon movies), S.W.A.T. (2003), The Shadow (1994), Shadow Of The Moon - M.M.Kaye, Ultimate Spider-Man )

Ultimately, dear Yulegoat, I want you to enjoy writing for me, so don't stress too much. These are just ideas that I have, and I'm not attached to them. If you can write my optional details without twisting your brain in knots, go for it! If you can't, then focus on the characters I've talked about and write your thing. It'll be good.

Okay, dear Crossovering Author,

This is a behemoth of a letter and I sincerely apologise. I've tried to put down some thoughts and ideas, but apart from focus on the women and keep the dynamics of the teams pretty much the core thing is that you don't stress about this assignment. Work it out as you can, and I will be delighted that you write something for me!

things I like
- women at the centre of the narrative, fuelling the action, thinking, feeling, acting, having agency, or using what agency they have in the most effective way they have
- female friendships: women working together, respecting each other's skills, valuing each others' differences, even if they don't like each other
- respectful heterosexual relationships: men who respect women as people, who treat women as people, who love women as individuals; women who struggle to trust but still choose to trust, even as they find ways to be who they need to be. (I hold to the view that if we can't model such relationships in fiction, then we will never see them in real life.)
- I prefer fusions (characters from one universe fused into another as though they've always been in the second universe) to crossovers (characters from two universes encountering each other with the canon history from their universe)
- my thoughts on fusion AUs as a guide to help you if you're stuck about how to proceed
- worldbuilding with people in

do not wants
- slash, even background slash (I have specific slash preferences, it's easier just to say 'no slash' than to try to navigate the permissible)
- refrigerated/ignored female characters (even if one of the fandoms is guy-heavy, you can go light on the guys and just give me the female characters)
- deathfic, hopelessness, downer endings

a note on fandoms )

Anyway, I hope that helps. If not, like I said at the start:
1. Ladies first.
2. Keep the dynamics.
3. Have fun!

Dear Everywoman Author,

Thank you so much for writing for me - I hope that you'll take this letter as non-proscriptive suggestions - indications of what I wouldn't mind receiving, but not the only things that I'd like to get!

female friendships all the way! )
