However, after an encounter earlier this evening, I'm still fuming.
Anyone willing to write me a Teyla-centric ficlet and help restore my equilibrium? I'd love a ficlet from you! I don't think I can wait until May to get fic about her!
Never written her? Give her a try! Not sure where to start? 100 words is fine! Think she's about as useful as a soggy biscuit? UNFRIEND PLZ, KTHXBAI!

"Aww, he likes you."
Colonel Sheppard had invited Teyla over to his apartment to meet 'a new friend' after their briefing at the SGC. She had walked through the front door in time to see an orange and white flash fly into the kitchen and skid to a halt in front of a bowl on the ground, meowing pitifully. Sheppard looked smitten and gave the cat a helping of fishy-smelling food.
"Yet he was attacking my hand mere seconds ago." Small red gouges marred her right hand. She handed the kitten to Sheppard and walked to the kitchen sink to rinse her hand off.
"Yeah, they do that. You've really never seen a cat before?"
"I have seen many large felines on various worlds, but none have been successfully domesticated. Many trading partners of my people keep pets, but they are similar to either Earth chickens or dogs."
Sheppard grimaced. He'd seen the small dogs that were kept as pets throughout Pegasus; they looked like pugs and yapped like pomeranians. Sheppard had taken to calling them 'puggeranians' in his head, and avoided them whenever possible. They tended to smell like cabbage.
Convinced that the bleeding had slowed, she took the kitten back, cradling it hesitantly to her breast. It purred and nudged her chin with his wet nose. Then it flipped out of her arms and tore across the room, bouncing off the sliding glass door that led to a small patio.
"He hasn't quite figured out glass yet," Sheppard noted wryly.
The kitten jumped onto the coffee table and leaped again, landing on top of the TV. One more hop had it tottering slightly as it balanced on top of an open closet door. The look of triumph in its eyes spoke volumes of prideful accomplishment.
Teyla stared in bewilderment at the small creature, obviously the king of all within his sight. "I do not understand this animal at all."
Sheppard shrugged. "He's just having fun. He still needs a name. Do you want to give him one?"
"Naming an animal is a great honor among my people, shared only with family and close friends."
"Teyla Emmagan," Sheppard addressed her formally, "would you do me the honor of naming my cat?"
She glanced at the kitten, gazing coolly down from his lofty perch, then back to Sheppard. With a gleam in her eye, she answered.
"It would indeed be my honor. I shall name him John."
The kitten tried to stretch on his narrow strip of wood and promptly fell off the door. He bounced to his feet and started licking himself purposefully.
John turned to Teyla, glaring.
Teyla laughed.
