You know, I can never deal with this old church friend on FB without remembering the tidbit of gossip I once heard about her.
She had her wedding dress before the guy she was dating proposed to her, and he had to be 'brought up to scratch' so far as marriage was concerned.
It's not wrong to want someone to be with, but I've always thought that the purchase of the dress before the engagement discussion smacked awfully of desperation. I also don't know if this is actually true, or just gossip. Nevertheless, when dealing with her, it's frequently in my mind...
And she's suggesting LiveScience.com as a source over the ABC, the SBS, and the Guardian Newspaper. Most likely because they're all "leftist" publications and she wants something that's a little less "biased".
Does anyone know who LiveScience is backed by? I suspect it's something like the IPA (Rupert Murdoch's pet 'science' group) only the British version.

this... kind of seems like a red flag to me? :O eeeeeeeeeeesh
No idea on the organisation sorry! but the fact that their headlines are written like clickbait rather than journalism and their webpage is plastered with ads doesn't fill me with confidence in their reputation tbh

One thing that I'm not sure of: how questionable is it when a news organisation is owned by something that has a stockmarket price and a 'brands' section? Because that feels dodgy to me, but i don't know if it's just my anti-capitalist leanings taking issue with it.

I mean, I wouldn't have said we were 'close' per se. But she had a lot of health issues and I was sympathetic to them (having had many friends online who'd struggled with assorted health issues) so...maybe that was enough?
On the other hand, she hasn't really spoken to me in some 7 years, either. She doesn't even 'like' my ordinary posts on FB; but she feels quite entitled to come in and demand that I prove my sources...
Weirdly, this is pretty common among certain women of a Christian-esque inclination. With absolutely no interest in my everyday life, they feel entitled to voice their opinion on my opinions and expect to be listened to...

No one likes capitalism these days, but it's not really the system that's the problem. It's the people that game the system that are the problem - in my opinion. Just because something is capitalist doesn't make it inherently bad. How the thing is used is the issue.
