I particularly like ciderpress' point in her meta: It's an affirmation that they have the luxury to not think about how offensive something they say or do is, that they have no regard for who they hurt, that they're allowed a pass, they're allowed to not apologize because they meant well. Somehow it's okay to be hurtful because it's not deliberate.
