The distinction between something working technically and something working functionally is a fine one and probably something that most users don't get. "It's not working!" is the catchcry, without realising that, from a technical perspective, yes, it's working, it's just telling you that your data is wrong, as compared to not processing your data at all.

Had a good weekend away with the bible study group, but I'm contemplating finding another church. Mostly because the people, while lovely, are, well, very "mainstream". There"s nothing wrong with "mainstream" except that I am not. And most of my bible study this year is. Oddly, I never really struggled with this before this year – maybe because my bible study of the last three years was mainstream but also mostly comprised of introverts – couples and singles. This year, however, my bible study is full of mainstream extroverts which makes them exhausting to be around for extended periods of time. And I suspect they think I'm boring. Which, to a mainstream extrovert, I am.

I guess the problem isn't my church; the problem is the people in my bible study. (Or, in the context of social groups, I'm "the problem" given my bible study group's character proclivities. Which means I'm going to have to reach out to some of the introverts in my church. Except that I'm an introvert, so I find this naturally exhausting... It's a conundrum!

Will be in Melbourne next weekend for Armageddon Convention. Just the Saturday this year, to wander the stalls and possibly meet up with people. I'm going to the Christopher Heyerdahl and Aldis Hodge dinner, which, ARGH, means I have to catch up on Leverage. Good lord. I think I'm YEARS behind... Which end-of-season was it where Nate and Sophie woke up in bed together? Three? That means I have S4 and half of S5 to watch, right? Yeesh. Better start downloading! (Hm. I should pester the stepdad to buy the series...)

And then after Armageddon, I'm going to visit [livejournal.com profile] saramund next weekend (and half of next week). Will probably take quilting and writing and books!

Dad has invited me to go to Vietnam after Christmas. Since work has 'mandatory leave" between Christmas and New Year (unless you"re fully utilised on a project), I accepted. HCMC will be neat, although more interesting will be Dad's new wife (Vietnamese). At least she comes with her own money, unlike my half-brother's mother (who is, frankly, a leech – poor G!).

Still, Vietnam! Looking forward to it!
