Sometimes I hate cutting scenes out of a longer fic. But this one was probably a little too self-indulgent: lots of quiet angst, under-the-table jealousy, and Steve has a conversation with a stranger about definitions of manhood, fatherhood, and normality.
I swore this story was only going to be three parts. Then it turned into four. It's currently sitting at five parts - the last part is a graphic and a couple of lines (unless Tony stages a rebellion and turns up at parent-teacher night after all). I am NOT going to let it become six. No more scope creep! No more extra scenes! We keep to the plan!
*sigh* But I was looking forward to writing the conversation between Steve and this guy.
Maybe it can go in the 'deleted scenes' box for later.
