I just...haven't had time or inclination to do anything in fandom lately. There have been plans and plans and plans but no time. No time in the cracks at work, and when I get home my study is cold and I don't want to write.
I have two nearly-finished fics - one PR: Mako/Raleigh, one MCU: Steve/Maria, but I can't find enough time to get the first one done, or enough brainspace to find the 'click' for the second. And there needs to be a 'click' and I almost have it, but not quite.
On the plus side, we had the house inspection today and there are no major issues with the house. A few things that need fixing, some asbestos boards that are stored under the house (just lying around) and should probably be taken away, but it's pretty well solid.
I can think of a whole SLEW of things that I'd like to do to the house, but the parentals are in a 'softly softly' mindset: "live in it for a year and then see what you want to do!" Which, fair enough. However, my one hard-and-fast line is stripping the carpet and polishing the floorboards. I am not going to be patch-cleaning cat vomit off the carpet every time Smokey decides she doesn't agree with her breakfast.
Oh, and getting better locks on the windows. Apparently half the windows don't actually lock properly. Which is going to be a problem since we're going to have a significant amount of electronics and valuable equipment in the place. So, locks for the windows ASAP.
With summer coming up, I am trying to plan out the garden even now. I have the orchard all laid out, and probable places for a herb garden and a vegie patch. I'm debating whether we can set up some composting stations down the south side of the house (hidden behind some fencing), and contemplating how much it will cost to get someone to come by and mow the lawn for us...
