Possible temporary job offered by a friend - 'helpdesk' and general tech/system support, at a pretty good rate. For a month. It's surely better than nothing at all. Which is what I'm facing everywhere else.

I got the job!

I start on Tuesday, standard office hours (might be a little less - 8:30am-5pm, give or take, and you get ~45minutes lunch-and-break as you please.

It's a temp, full-time job, working in the IT department of a farming/industrial machinery company 15 minutes down the road. It's sort of a general dogsbody job - "helpdesk" but the users are the kind of people who delete their bookmarks and then want to know how to get them back. (Note: this is an actual, real example of what happened while I was filling out forms there this afternoon.

The people are nice, the pay is good for what it is and where it is - double what I was temping for back in the mid-00s as a front desk secretary, even if it's rather less than what I'm used to as a contractor. I shall learn to budget.

(A friend has been trying to take me through YNAB - You Need A Budget - and now that money is coming in but it's seriously limited, I shall have to start gripping the beast by the tail...)

Uh, but to celebrate, I'm going to buy the Her Universe Captain Marvel fake leather jacket. And the Wonder Woman one. I'd buy the WW boots, but I don't wear heels anymore and I can't stretch the splurge that far...

I still have to sell a shitload of stuff, too. *sigh*

Insulin is medicine from a lab. So are anti-depressants. So is the Pill. So are all the drugs that CFS or HIV people need to survive.

DO NOT GIVE ME THAT SHIT ABOUT "REAL MEDICINE COMES FROM THE EARTH NOT FROM A LAB" FUCKER

No, I don't need any of that to survive - but I know a metric fucktonne of people who do.

I'm 100% a gardener, a permaculturist, and someone who thinks we could probably - overall and as a society - do with less medical intervention on occasion. But I also know that many of us survive on a biochemical intervention which was developed in a lab at some point or another.

When you beat people who actually need biomedical intervention in their lives by shaming their supposed rejection of "earth and nature", though, you've lost me entirely.
