I got two beautiful little pieces, one in Star Wars fandom, the other in Buffy fandom.
Two Burglaries That Pass in the Night (2310 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), Star Wars Legends - All Media Types
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Jyn Erso & Mara Jade
Characters: Jyn Erso, Mara Jade
Additional Tags: Crossover, POV Alternating, Pre-Rogue One, A few months BBY
Summary: Jyn's doing the best she can. Mara's doing the Emperor's bidding. For both of them, that means going to a jewelry shop at midnight.
I love the reflection on names and naming, on the necessity of what they're doing, and on their frank honesty to each other - two women whose innocence is a long way behind them.

Let The Silence Find Us
Fanomd: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Faith Lehane & Buffy Summers
Characters: Faith Lehane, Buffy Summers,
Additional Tags: Post-Canon, Angst and Hurt/Comfort, Hurt/Comfort
Summary: For a while, they are quiet, locked away from the world, locked away from each other. This, Faith knows, this is familiar. Two Slayers and not enough world and never the right words.
This one is a character punch: they're both so young (some twenty plus years later) but at the same time, so old for what they've seen. And they don't relate to each other in any kind of way that we'd consider 'normal' or 'proper' but it's the only way they know how.

For my own assignment, I wrote about 3K, then decided it wasn't complete enough and rewrote a much shorter and tighter < 1K ficlet. Then I pulled together a slightly longer story that fit a request that I could fill. I have two other little notes of possibility that I could still fill with something small, but I'd need to have time to do that...and I don't.

Happy V-Day to us all: may we love and be loved, however that represents to us. And may we be gentle with ourselves in what is looking very much like a year of slow recovery. *hugs*
