Because over the last two months I've had about a dozen new people friend this journal and almost none of them have so much as peeped at any of my posts.
It tends to worry me. I'm kinda wondering what all these people are doing staring at me.

A. Both. Depends on the clown. The clown from IT was my nightmare growing up until I saw Psycho. (Well, the clown from IT and water from my shower/faucet suddenly turning to blood.) However, little clown dolls/etc can be adorable.

A. I'd like to be thinner. However, I don't want it enough to actually do th exercise I know I could do. Hm... I'd like to get rid of the gap between my teeth without having to get veneers.

A. A mix of both. Well, I'd be your conscience and your alibi. I'd ask you if it was really necessary, try to talk you out of it, but then help you weave a good story to cover it up afterward.

But if you don't eat, she makes a little disapproving frown.

A. The only objectionable words I use are piss(ed) in terms of being angry, bloody, hell (not as often as the others), screw, and crap. 'What the screw?' and 'Bloody screw' and 'Fan-bloody-tastic' are particularly common. If I use a curse word beyond these, know that I really mean it. If I say that I had a shitty day, then I mean I had the day from hell's hell. If I call someone a bastard, then you can guess that they are on level (they are not in fact) a child molester. It's not that I think swearing is bad, it is just that I save the words for when there is absolutely nothing else that will fit.

A. Um.... I don't know. Nothing springs to mind. People who take every single conversation back to them and their endless dithering? I hate that quite a bit. I'm not sure.

No big story behind their names, no. Shady's been around longer than I can remember, and that's just always been her name.
Jasmine was already named when we got her - she was used to it, so we kept it. I just insisted on calling her "Jazzy" because I wanted at least ONE cat with a musical name, and she was too cute and fluffy and tiny for me to take "Jasmine" very seriously. ^^;; Now she's used to both names.

Lackey?? OMG. Seriously? I've read almost all the Valdemar books - the only ones I haven't read are Brightly Burning and the Owl books. I want a cat named Tarma someday. XD

Yeah, I've got quite a lot of Lackey's books - all the Valdemar ones, actually, I think I have all the ones set in that world from the Gryphon series to the Owl series.
The first "Owl" book - Owlflight is quite good. The second one (Owlsight) builds the tension...and then goes nowhere. The third one (Owlknight) doesn't quite seem to make it anywhere. She's not as much fun to read as she originally was, and I think this is partly because I've gotten older and my views on fantasy have changed a lot, and partly because her fantasy is very simple.
Something like Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series on the other hand - well, the first three books are stellar. Complex relationships, layered characters...I'd say the second book is the weak point, but the first and the third really stand out - at least for me. The first two of the trilogy aren't bad, but they're not as good as the first three.

Aside from Lackey, I only read the occasional fantasy. I'm also really big on historical fiction - esp. with a feminist (or at least femme-centric) slant. The The Twentieth Wife & The Feast Of Roses by Indu Sundaresan, The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, the Tudor wives books by Jean Plaidy, etc.
EDIT: Forgot to mention - on the fantasy front? I'm also big on Marion Zimmer Bradley's Avalon series. It combines fantasy AND historical fiction in one tasty package. XD
I also read non-fiction in my spare time because I'm that much of a loser, and loveloveLOVE horror stories. Especially ones with ghosts - ghost stories are my fav horror genre. XD
(Though, oddly enough, I don't really dig Lovecraft.)

Nope, no women have made it to the moon yet. Unfortunately, my eyesight is so bad that I'd never be allowed to become an astronaut, so I gave the dream up in favour of geophysics--since I'm already on this planet, and all. :-)

I grew up in South Africa. It was not exactly the most, uh, peaceful place on Earth, for very good reasons. Political debate was next to impossible given that the vast majority of the population was not entitled to a vote, so some folks decided to voice their disenchantment with the political system in a more, er, physical manner. I grew up listening to news stories about limpet mines in shopping malls, car bombs, and necklacing. And then one day, it wasn't just a news story anymore.
My mom was fine. A security guard noticed the limpet mine, and got it covered with a bomb blanket before it exploded. My mom was knocked down by teh force of the explosion, but otherwise unhurt. The security guard was much closer to the explosion, so did not escape quite so lightly.
But restraining my sister in the car to prevent her from running in to search for my mom, and waiting for what seemed like hours for my mom to walk out of that mall, was the most intensely horrifying experience of my life. I was absolutely convinced that my mom was dead, and I had no idea what to do next.
What accent (or crossbreed of accents) do you have?
South African, Canadian and English. I think I sound English. Everyone else keeps asking if I come from Ireland, or maybe New Zealand. Or Texas. *blink blink*

Heh. The first time I heard a South African accent, I thought she was English as well. Then I began working with a bunch of South Africans and learned their accent. These days, it's rather funny to ID them. "Most people think we're English!"
