Alas, for today Mako is up against Abbie Mills. And has been steadily losing all day. :(
f_march_madness - go and vote for Mako? Please?
Discussion question: does Abbie pass the Mako Mori test? (Mako Mori test: a female character with her own storyline that isn't about a male character.)
It gets a bit fuzzy since her contact with the demon world predates Ichabod's awakening into the present, but her involvement as a witness is largely dependent on Ichabod's presence - along with his apparent willingness to plunge into the matters of the supernatural and initially to drag her after him.
And then there's the TV series format vs. the movie format, where it's easier to have a single goal in a movie which is achieved by the end. While a TV series can have a moving goal or series of goals.
Plus, "cancelling the apocalypse" obviously takes a bit longer in a TV series...

They start by listing fandoms and then getting people to vote on the characters in those fandoms. Some fandoms are blended, depending on how close the canon is: eg. Marvel Cinematic Universe is under 'sci-fi' and encompasses all the Marvel movies and Agents of SHIELD characters.
So in Dr Who fandom, Sleepy Hollow Fandom, and Pacific Rim fandom, the guys got 'voted out' in favour of Donna, Abbie, and Mako. And now the fandoms go up against each other with their representative character.
So yesterday, with 32 contenders, Mako Mori was up against Donna Noble. Apparently she won (it would have been by a very thin margin, I think - I haven't checked), and so passed on into the next round - the 'Sweet Sixteen'.
The winner of this round will go up against whoever wins in the Natasha Romanoff vs. Arya Stark (last I checked it was Natasha), and the winner of that will go up against whoever wins in the 'Drama' category (I'm guessing it's going to be Joan Watson).
And yeah, last year and this, the characters nominated for the various fandoms skewed seriously female. And seem to be doing so again.
