[livejournal.com profile] igrockspock asked: Rec three of your favorite fanworks, written by you or someone else.

I don't read a lot of fic or hunt up a lot of fanworks anymore, but I have my occasional favourites:

she will place on your head a graceful garland, she will bestow on you a beautiful crown

This is Bible-fic. You really need to know this segment of the Bible to get all the nuances in this, but when you do and you read this, it is AMAZING. From Bathsheba’s growth in understanding, to Abigail’s wisdom and final sacrifice, and all the little things that happen along the way and contribute to the whole. For someone who tended to ignore the sermons as a kid, but would carefuly read through the story sections of Kings and Chronicles, this is a stupendous work and I cannot commend it enough!

can’t carve a whistle

Possibly the fic that kicked me into writing Steve/Maria as a pairing. (As compared to liking it, and then deciding that there was no fic and I wasn't going to be the first.) With all the focus on Steve in most other fics, I loved how this was about Maria and how she kind of sort of wait what slides into a friendship/relationship with Steve Rogers.

It was also written from Maria’s POV which made all the difference to me.

Heroes

Pacific Rim AU fusion into Firefly 'verse. The mix works particularly well because the authors haven't shoehorned characters into the same roles as the crew of the Serenity, but let them find their own space in the 'verse.

An explanation is given for Joss' racism oversight in not casting any Asians at all (please, do not give me that crap about 'mixed blood' thanks), and the Beckets as companions? PERFECTION.

There are infinitely more that I could rec - I've been in fandom a long time, but these are three that are recent standouts. :)
