Booked my ticket to Cap 3 on the Thursday it opens in Australia - the late screening. Might as well get on top of the spoilers from the get-go, and make sure my heart is well and truly broken before I have to put up with the fandom.
I shall go and enjoy Sharon and Natasha and Wanda (hopefully) being sensible while the guys get their dick-measuring on, and hope against hope for Maria and/or Pepper smacking the boys down.
*le sigh*
There's no way to show the sides evenly when it's Steve's movie. Like, NO way in hell. Because the story has to be about Steve and his POV, and in this kind of movie, the POV is never wrong or self-deluded. Or, if they are, they get their moment of clarity and realisation and are on the path of right by the midpoint of the movie. That's what's required of the narrative.
It's like that friend who said that Cap 2 "was Natasha's film, too; she practically got equal billing" without seeing that, no, it's not Natasha's film. She's a character in it - a catalyst or pivotal point - but it's not about her and her goals, it's about Steve and Steve's goals - to find meaning in the modern world and what he does.
