In the last two weeks, I've contacted five people I know casually about various fandom-related queries, by email and text-message. None of them have responded. As in, at all. Not a peep.
Five.
I was polite. Civil. Didn't use chatspeak. Parsed, punctuated, and paragraphed my missive. These are people I've spoken to before, quite often. I thought our conversations were friendly enough. And the mails were definitely inquiries on my part. Involving actual questions. "Can you confirm...?" "Are you going to...?" "Would you like some help with...?"
Five.
I only just realised this when I mailed off a couple of emails this evening and realised I hadn't heard back from the others.
They say two's a coincidence, and three's a...well, I don't know what three is, but five is distinctly depressing. And making me paranoid.
Is there a fandom APB out there somewhere that cites Atlantis fans should avoid speaking to me at all costs? I think I missed that memo...

::thumbs through pile of memos:: Oh yes, that would be memo #583, sent out last week by...well...I can't quite make out the name. Anyway, I don't know how you missed it, your name is scribbled all over it. Oh wait...never mind. ;-)
I don't know whether to hug you or whack you with the stick, don't let it get to you anymore than it already has!

So, I think you're safe, paranoia-wise.
