Social media - including blogs and journalling services like DW and LJ - are kind of creepy sometimes. I mean, where else could you have 100 or 800 or a 1000 people following you around, not saying anything to you...just watching...

I know, I've been online in journalling services like this for, oh, 16+ years, and I only just thought of it like that.

...

...we do say things though?

...but yes. :(

It's a little weird...though less so on different types of media: If Billy Bob Thornton followed me on Twitter, I'll probably not care much; it's a public platform blaring into the void, and nothing I put on it I wouldn't want on the cover of the NYT. I don't tend to even check my followers on Twitter, except for whether it's a person or a pornbot (in the first case: check out whether to friend; in the second case: block).

Here on Dreamwidth, if someone followed me for years without commenting, it'd feel different: more personal, private -- even in the public posts.
