Has anyone used BlogBooker to save their LJ? How did you find it? I'm wondering about how long it takes ("processing time"?) and whether it's worth it.

Thoughts? Opinions? Would you pay for the Standard or the Premium and not just the free?

I'm wondering about the "max processing time" thing, which I presume is how long it might take to process your blog. And I have my doubts about processing 15 years of LJ in an hour...

I gave them money when they were starting up wayyyyyyy back when, so I think I get expedited service when I use it. It was very off-and-on for a while, and I think had some problems for a while, but I used it to back up my DW last year I think and it worked very well.

One tip -- DO NOT try to do your whole LJ in one go. Most people do it year by year, but you might have to chunk it every 5 years? Every 3?

I downloaded another LJ with LJ Archive, which I think still works but you need LJ archive to read it and I'm not sure how reliable that is at all. :-/

I could probably chunk it into 3 year spans. I guess I want it as a record of the things I talked about - bits of life, things that bothered me, the person I was.

Some of the historical entries are useful, like tracking how my last tooth extraction went 12 years ago. And it would be nice to be reminded of interactions I had back then, and where I've come to since then. But it's not urgent or necessary - most of what is relevant for the last five to ten years is here on DW.

Does DW die on import? I've never had trouble importing my LJ through DW or Wordpress.

Oh, I've got all my tielan entries over (or enough so as not to make any major difference to me), and I've been crossposting everything from DW for the last four years.

However, I have an older LJ which I more or less abandoned around 2010, only occasionally posting to it, and that marks my earliest days in LJ and if possible, I wouldn't mind keeping it.

Also, importing to DW requires you to sign the new LJ TOS which I'm strongly trying to avoid.

Don't know if this helps, but a WP import is free if you have it and will grab multiple accounts if you do them in succession.
