eye colour vs makeup

Look, what you're asking for is akin to a change in eye-colour. I can't do that. I can adjust the makeup around the eyes, but I can't do anything about the colour of the eyes. The DNA is set, and beyond my ability to adjust.

LOL. It's a metaphor - I probably should have made that clearer.

Basically, they want me to change the way something is structured, put together, organised. And it's like, uh, I can't do that. That function of the system was designed and developed by someone far, far away and probably long, long ago. I can adjust a few things up this end, but the core of what I have to work with? Is what I have to work with...
