fanfic I'll never get

I am wanting fic about one of my first fandoms where I actually interacted with other people and made friends. Unfortunately a) it's been 30 years since the first book was published, b) the author discouraged fanfic by saying "I'd rather read your original stories, why don't you write those instead" and the fandom was small enough and fledgling enough that people took it to heart, c) nobody wants to write the pairings/characters that I want to see.

And point c) is basically every fandom I ever joined, only a thousand times worse, because at least the other fandoms where I shipped the 'nobody likes it but you' option had a hundred thousand other fans, and maybe a couple of hundred were 'oh, that's an idea, I like that'.

Could you request it for Yuletide?

I did request it a number of years back, but it's not one easily picked up, and the issue of 'not something other people enjoy' remains with my pairings/characters of choice.

That sucks.

Although, I will note that, after requesting Donovan's Reef fic for MANY, MANY YEARS, someone said "you know, this person has been requesting this for ALL THIS TIME and has never gotten anything, I will fill that request." and it was amazing. However, Donovan's Reef is a movie and thus inherently easy to pick up.

Dragon Prince by Melanie Rawn. And I want Rohannon/Aldiara, Pol/Sionell, or Jihan/Jahnev futurefic after the books end.

Wow, I was thinking about rereading those books soon. If I do commit to a re-read, I'll see what I can do about your futurefic. Maybe I'll be finished by Yuletide ;-)

LOL. No pressure. There's always that "you should probably just write it yourself" thing going, but...I have so many ideas and stories already!

I realise this doesn't solve the overall problem of feeling constantly out of sync with fandom - but for specific instances, does Fandom5k tempt this year? I'm treating it a bit like a longform Yuletide this year, myself.

It would be neat to add more people in. I think it's time for me to re-read them - I never got beyond *cough*'s death when I read them first, but that was a while ago now. (You were very gracious about getting a first-trilogy fic that Yuletide - it's probably time you get a second-trilogy fic!)

Aw, they were lovely fics. And I didn't mind at all! I'm pretty sure the options were open.
