Ah well, other people seem to like them (at least a little), so we may not be winning, but we're not doing horrendously.

My smutswap gift was actually Steve/Maria femsub:

title: Unconventional Problem Solving
summary: Steve has an unorthodox approach to helping Maria get used to taking orders instead of giving them. Set between Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron.

It's mostly setup, and I'd have loved to read more of Round 2 and some intense smut, but they mentioned that there's a possibility of a continuation so that would be nice. (If they follow through.)

Although really, whether I do any of this mostly depends on Infinity War, which the likelihood of me seeing beyond the one viewing in the cinema is fairly infinitismal. And no, I don't need to follow canon, but it's hard to write when even the people who like your work are squeeing over how canon gave them exactly what they wanted, or at least enough of what they wanted so that the masses of fans for the already-popular-and-populous stuff they like can churn out thousands more fics.

Is Maria going to be in Infinity War? I can't remember. I'm way more invested in Team Wakanda and the Guardians than I am in the core group, unless Maria or Helen Cho shows up.

So far as anyone can tell, no, she's not going to be in IW. *grumbles*

I was thinking during BP that it would have been much more interesting to me to have Maria in the role that Everett Ross played. Plus, Okoye & Maria interaction! *sigh*

I get the feeling that Maria Hill would be too competent for Black Panther, which gave its two white characters as little to do as possible. Actually, she was too competent for Civil War, because we all know Maria would have put Steve and Tony on timeout until they decided to act like grownups.

Friendship with Okoye would be great, though.

I'd take Maria, minor character or not. At least she'd be back in the public eye and people would stop forgetting that she exists....
