That is so cool! It looks like tile! (That is, like ceramic tile floors/walls.)

The style of such quilts - English Paper Piecing - does tend to end up looking like tilework. There are some lovely ones that look like they've gotten their design ideas from Middle Eastern tiling patterns.

Don't think I haven't contemplated making one like that before... But this one was such an energy expenditure, I was just "eh, nope."

Looking at it, I can see how I'd do it differently if I did it over again. But for the moment, I shall just bask in the pleasure of having completed the top... :)

It's been ongoing for at least 4 years, although this is an abridged version and not the full quilt as defined by the pattern. But I took a big break from it for a year or so. Just couldn't face it. It's come forward by leaps and bounds in the last six months, though.
