Have I been gloating in any way, shape or form about the Season Four spoilers?

Other than the news that Teyla will get storylines. About that, I am pleased as punch and more than happy to squee and bounce and be excited. Usually under f-lock, because I've been disappointed too many times in SGA.

I'm particularly interested to hear from the Elizabeth fans who still read this LJ.

It depends on how batshit crazy the person in question is, I think. ::coughs:: The normal nonsensitive folks (like me) would categorize gloating as "Haha! Your character's gonna die/go away/get a reduced part/whatever! You suck and I'm gonna laugh at you."

To the batshit crazy, saying, "Hmm, Character A will have a reduced part while Character B (who I happen to like) will get a bigger role" = gloating.

::shrug:: In fact, to the batshit crazy, breathing=gloating, coughing=gloating, and your mere existence on the planet=gloating.

So I wouldn't worry too much.

Keep in mind that there are some fans who think that stating "I'm looking forward to s4" is gloating. They're extremely pissed about what's happening with s4 and if you don't feel the same then you're some kind of traitor. Or something. It's not worth taking such people seriously.

Well, I'm reasonably pissed about some of what's happening with S4!

I know it's difficult when someone's happy about something about which you're unhappy - it's one of the reasons I'm a little sporadic with the f-list - but I don't consider that gloating.

See, I haven't actually seen too many of the ranters about the place. Possibly because the bulk of my read-list are more focused on the team and on Teyla (when they look at SGA at all).

And I haven't been keeping up with the sga_newsletter meta posts, which probably doesn't help.

But someone said that John/Teyla fans are gloating over S4, and I was wondering if I was considered one of those fans.

I like to read sga_flashfic's flist and I've seen a lot there. Most of the stuff I have seen is been related to Sam.

I haven't seen any John/Teyla gloating so yeah, I don't think you are one of those fans.

I know of only one JT person who could be considered to be "gloating" over the Elizabeth-related spoilers, and she's reasonably high profile in JT fandom, but she never liked Elizabeth in the first place.

But see, I have at least five or six John/Teyla writers on my f-list, and I've seen nothing to suggest that any of them are gloating. And what I've seen of Gatewank Gateworld is pretty much the same. The Sheppard/Teyla thread is merrily posting along, asking about what's going to happen in S4 and speculating and generally just bouncing on, happy as larry.

So I'm curious as to who, exactly, are these people gloating? Is anyone gloating at the changes in S4? I'd have thought most of us are holding onto our [character of choice] and going, "pleasepleasepleasepleasebenicetothem"

Human nature being as it is, sure there are people gloating. As there were people gloating after [insert episode] when [insert less salutory event] happened to [insert character of whom they aren't fond].

I'd just kinda like to know who. And what was said to classify it as gloating.

Plus, I'm developing a distinct dearth of Elizabeth-fans on this f-list. Which worries me a little.

I bet it only one person. That seems to be all it takes these days. One person says one thing, and it paints the entire pairing fandom as gloating. Which sucks.

90% of the posts I've read have been people mad about Sam. They think she's going to take time away from Rodney or Radek or make Rodney look dumb, or John won't have as much authority etc. I have not read a single post where someone has said "Yay! Elizabeth is gone!" etc. Most of the time even if the poster doesn't like Elizabeth, they like Sam less.

The other 10% of posts have been the "okay, there are changes, it could suck, it could not, but I'm still watching etc."

Personally, I like Elizabeth and I love Sam. I am pretty much the entire John/Sam fandom. I'm happy she's coming to Atlantis - but I would be equally happy if Elizabeth was staying.

As everyone said, no you didn't gloat. I'm not happy with the cast changes, but also feel like the producers have wasted too many good characters.

I have at least one Elizabeth fan on my readlist who's posting/ranting about the changes. The rest seem mostly silent on the topic, although I know at least one person who blew up when the news first came through.

Again, I haven't seen so much of the anger against Sam, either. The readlist have barely mentioned it at all. Then again, I don't have too many all-out Rodney-fans on my f-list. (I don't have too many all-out Elizabeth-fans on my f-list anymore, either.)

LOL. I like the idea of John and Sam. Possibly with them having history of some kind, long, loooong ago. And that screwing their dynamic up now, even if they're not in love with each other anymore.

Because, hello? Interpersonal dynamics and knowing how your commanding officer likes being eaten out from when you were both young, reckless, and horny as hell? Priceless.

Stargate has a history of wasting good characters in exchange for sticking with the 'safe' ones.

On the other hand, the changes to SGA S4 are definitely classificable as 'unsafe' in some respects, so it'll be interesting to see if they try to make for familiar ground or break with the traditions entirely.

I love them. I'm a big multishipper, but John/Sam and McKay/Cadman are the two pairings I've written the most in.

I love the idea that they had a relationship at the academy and now they are just doing the "d'oh we had sex, and now we have to work together. Also, my best friend has this massive crush on you and I never quite told him we screwed."

I hope that gets written.
