Have I been gloating in any way, shape or form about the Season Four spoilers?
Other than the news that Teyla will get storylines. About that, I am pleased as punch and more than happy to squee and bounce and be excited. Usually under f-lock, because I've been disappointed too many times in SGA.
I'm particularly interested to hear from the Elizabeth fans who still read this LJ.

Keep in mind that there are some fans who think that stating "I'm looking forward to s4" is gloating. They're extremely pissed about what's happening with s4 and if you don't feel the same then you're some kind of traitor. Or something. It's not worth taking such people seriously.

I know it's difficult when someone's happy about something about which you're unhappy - it's one of the reasons I'm a little sporadic with the f-list - but I don't consider that gloating.

And I haven't been keeping up with the
But someone said that John/Teyla fans are gloating over S4, and I was wondering if I was considered one of those fans.

Plus, you know, 6 months before the next season airs in the US! What a wait!

I'd just kinda like to know who. And what was said to classify it as gloating.
Plus, I'm developing a distinct dearth of Elizabeth-fans on this f-list. Which worries me a little.

As everyone said, no you didn't gloat. I'm not happy with the cast changes, but also feel like the producers have wasted too many good characters.

Stargate has a history of wasting good characters in exchange for sticking with the 'safe' ones.
On the other hand, the changes to SGA S4 are definitely classificable as 'unsafe' in some respects, so it'll be interesting to see if they try to make for familiar ground or break with the traditions entirely.

I'm sorry.
Most of my 'caring' is because of the fanfic writing and the characters and their backgrounds. That's primarily what interests me about the series right now.

Depends on who you talk to, I guess.

This is something I've thought about quite a bit. I have friends who love Elizabeth and are sad she's gone; I'm actually looking forward to seeing how Atlantis is without her. Just on a personal level thoughl - I do really feel sorry for my friends.
Hopefully, Season Four will be wonderful. I'm happy as a clam that Teyls is going to be explored! Think of all the fic we can write!
Also, yes, in response to a comment from you a day or two ago, I have MSN, but I'm not on much. It's nyc_iby@hotmail.com

And I'm willing to wait and see. Although six months before it screens seems like a rather long wait.
But, yes, I'm hoping for a few more people to fall in love with Teyla.

Sure, I see it. I just don't read into it as particularly shippy! :)
I guess, for me, the show has good personal relationships all around as well as good professional ones. The two are interchangeable. The personal relationships aren't always as romantic as fandom reads them - friendship doesn't immediately have to equate to love to me.
I see a little more in the actions/words between John and Teyla to incline me that way, but their regular interaction is about on shippiness-par with everything else I see on the show.
Hm. That was quite a diversion I managed to get into.
That said, I'd love to read some Teyla&Elizabeth friendship stories with action-adventure/drama in them. I have plans to write one, but it's difficult to get around all the other stuff I'm trying to write.

Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with not liking a particular character. I mean, why is it such big deal to make it know that you don't like Weir? Why is she any more special than Teyla? How can anyone get away with being openly critical of Teyla, yet defensive when the subject is Weir? This double standard is childish, and I am loathe to feel 'sorry' for anyone who has been negative about Teyla, yet demands respect for Weir.
That said, it is truly a small number of fans for which this seems an issue, at least where I lurk. I'd really just like S4 to be here and air so we can just get it over with.
It does seem that in certain crowds that if you are in fact pleased with S3 and are looking forward to S4 that you are 'gloating' or being insensitive, but I think thats hogwash. I don't accept that definition, even though the above is true for me. There is also the same type of finger-pointing happning to those who are resigned to the changes for S4, even though they may like Weir very much.
But, um, to answer your orignal question, no I haven't seen you gloat.

I can't say that I'm a bigger fan of one character than another so even though I'm sad about Elizabeth, I'm happy about Teyla. :D It all balances out in the end. Besides, even when the show goes in a direction I don't particularly like, there's always fan fiction to turn to. :D Ah, the joys of fandom creativity.
So, in short, nope, no gloating. :)

It's getting to where I'm reluctant to post squee because there are just so *many* fans who seem to take squee about character or pairing (x) as a diss against character or pairing (y). I really don't get where all the hate and resentment is coming from, why so many people seem so willing to hear "EEE! Character [x]! Scene [x]!" and take that to mean: "OMG I hate character [y] and scene [y] SO VERY MUCH." I mean, sure, there are characters and character relationships that I'm squeeful about and ones that I'm not, but this doesn't mean I feel compelled to go around to the personal squee parties of people I don't even know and wet-blanket all over them -- which is something that a lot of fans seem to be doing lately, and that's just sad! There would be so much less wank in the fandom if people would quit taking personal offense at someone else's happiness.

Besides, the Teyla stuff deserves squee-age.
