Why not just happly growing up ( *grown* up) and... well.... Teyla is not QUITE thirty-two(I think - have we head a 'cannon' age), so I don't think a child of hers would be 'married and out in their own with their own kids' but if she had her first at 16 or 17? The child could be old enough to be out apprenticed or working with a senior trader and only coming home for visits. Not that kid-with-father wouldn't be a good and reasonable scenario. (Esp. given Teyla's previous profession of 'trader' - which would make child-rearing a greater burden.) Plus - Teyla talks as if she was raised by her father. HECK - alien culture - it could be perfectly reasonable to them that children are 'fostered out' to older kin, and Teyla could have four or five kids living somewhere being raised by their father's ( for fathers) extended family. (Wouldn't insist on any of this - but would make plot-bunny-feed)

And yes, I can see that the Pegasus galexy would encourage people to have children 'while they can' - and right now in Athos would be sort of a post-war baby-boom (Even if the war isn't over - they are closer to Wraith-safe then they have been in generations. Strong allies and a safe place to run to.) Plus most people generally WANT children. [We live in a strange time and sub-culture if I even have to state this - it's about like saying the majority like to drink water and breath air. OK - maybe not that strong but... biological drive here.] Athos seems to be strongly xexo-genic, so I'd be suprised if anyone in her culture was suprised if she had just decided.... "This is a good time for me to have/raise a baby, and *he* ( whoever) has many desireable paternal characteristics so.... "Hey big boy ....."
