Got a call from the Defence job. Apparently they're putting my name forward. My name out of six possibles.

I mean, there's still interviews and getting me in there, and a whole bunch of things, but...

I'm getting a little scared now. What if I have to leave my house and my garden and everything behind for even six months? B1 will never manage and I can just see everything in my garden dying beyond repair. And that's not even counting my church, quilting, gardening, or hockey communities...

I realise I'm probably borrowing trouble, but...

Ahahaha, maybe we need another working bee to set up an irrigation system for you? XD It's something I wouldn't mind working out for parts of my garden myself! But ultimately nature's pretty good at keeping on keeping on without you, though not quite as neatly.

On the whole that sounds like good news though! And I have several nerdy friends in Canberra if you end up needing human company.

I'm thinking I need to mulch things more, and maybe bury some ag pipe or something deeper in the garden so it slows the water absorption? Some friends said they buried a bunch of logs in a garden bed (hugelkulture) and they've barely had to water it although it's been full-sun for a wile.

I'm trying to build up the mulch levels the better to retain moisture, but it's all the little things that are going to stress me out.

And yes, the money would definitely be good news! And I will certainly take options for company/people to meet!

1. It is! I'm just always terrified that I might not do a good job or they'll be dissatisfied with my work or decide they don't like me or...

2. The problem is mostly that it'll be minimum six months, with prospective longer-term contracts...
