cleaning up?

How do people organise the innumerable technology cords that they have? TV/AV/DVD, so many monitor power cables, assorted transformers and phone chargers? I found a Palm Pilot III that I owned back in...the early 00s!

Anyway, going to try to get the DVD player showing on the TV today...And hope that my garden doesn't die. Things were seriously heated up by 8am this morning and it's going to get worse.

The smoke out there is horrific - it looks like fog. Heaven only knows how people with respiratory problems are doing. Probably really badly. And everywhere is out of face masks - the kinds that actually filter properly and seal around your mouth and nose. There's probably some profiteering going on, too, I don't doubt.

Meanwhile, our politicians - both right wing and centrist - are dead silent on the topic of both climate change and bushfires, and the Rupert Media (which has a stranglehold on our news) is blaming the environmental party...

Three more years of these arseholes to wipe.

The plants have been deep-planted, deep-watered, and deep-mulched. And then I covered most of them with a sheet to slow down respiration of the leaves. So...here's hoping...

I like to put old cables and cords and telephone wire in random drawers throughout the apartment, so that when we pack up to move next time we can discover them and ask ourselves yet again "what is this for? Should we keep it or throw it out?"

I find it works well, especially if we keep them for 20+ years before trying to dispose of it. (ONE TIME I had to buy another ethernet cord because we'd lost or gotten rid of the one we had and clearly this will never be allowed to happen again.)

(Keeping old mice comes in handy when the one you're using dies and you have 3-4 to choose from in nearby drawers.)

That is our present system. It doesn't work for me, though. I can never find which drawer it's in and end up buying another, upon which point after the package is opened (and thereby invalidating the opportunity of returning it) an identical cable that we already had will LEAP from the nearest drawer and cling to my face a la the Alien.

What about using a belt hanger? (Clothes hanger but with things to hold individual belts)? Put tape on each cord to ID it, and hang them all up someplace.

Hm. That's a possibility. Although we don't really use belts in this house, so not really any belt hangers...

COMPLICATED ZIP TIES is how I live my life. Cable Management is a huge thing for me XD

LOL. Yeah, I'm trying not to resort to the complicated zip ties. There is some use of elastic bands from bundles of vegies that is happening, but mostly I'm thinking of stoarge and how to put it all away such that everything stays grouped and neat and non-tangled...
