I don't know the specific canon for this iteration, but it seems to my not-a-Sherlock-Holmes-fan mind to be a mix of general Sherlock Holmes in a modern AU with a distinct BBC Sherlock relational dynamic to it.

Wonderful fic for immersing oneself in the story, and it's a casefic. Not 'JohnLock' in any overt way but that's okay by me.

“No,” Wilhelmina demurs. “You don’t need what I offer.”

This is not a dynamic that I've ever given a second thought, but the scene and the encounter really works. I never thought much about Wilhelmina and Karla after the books, even though I read The Shadow Queen and Shalador's Lady, but this conclusion and their characterisation works beautifully for me.
