More fannish character meme:
senmut asked for someone from Carey's Kusheline series, and although I could have picked Phedre or Joscelin, I went with Melisande.
Melisande
Why I like them: She's the ultimate Xanatos. Like, she makes all the plans for all the things, she's clever and cunning, and in a way it's only Phedre's skill and luck (which, ironically, Phedre considers 'ill-luck' as portended by her name) and the will of the gods that denies Melisande her victories.
Why I don’t: She's not precisely a sociopath, but I'm not comfortable with her moral compass and the way she plays the game. I mean, this is pretty much everyone in the D'Angeline world's level of discomfort with the way Melisande plays the game: at several levels of interaction.
Favorite season/movie/book: Favourite as in 'most interesting'? Or favourite as in 'best liked'? Most interesting is probably in Kushiel's Chosen when she's playing politics in La Serenissima but being careful not to blaspheme, but I think the dimension of her interaction with Imriel in Kushiel's Justice when they're reconciling makes me like her best.
Favorite line: She says, at one point, that she plays politics for the love of the game, but she stops short at blasphemy.
Favorite outfit: The only really descriptive outfit that I can remember is probably the Lady of Ys where she takes Phedre to the midwinter masque among the Kushelines. Although for some reason I tend to imagine it somewhat like that black feathered outfit that 'Queen Amidala' wears during TPM. Although I do like te image of the glass-beaded veil of Asherat-of-the-Sea.
OTP: I am not actually a Phedre/Melisande shipper. I quite liked the idea of her settling down with the guy she ended up with on the island: someone who yearned for knowledge but also understood her mind.
BroTP: I think I'd really like to see Melisande and Phedre working together instead of always being at odds - at least, from Phedre's POV, they're at odds, even when Phedre is searching for Imriel.
Headcanon: In my head, she'll always be played by Angelina Jolie.
Unpopular opinion: Probably my not!Phedre/Melisande opinion.
5 words to best describe them: Ruthless, captivating, brilliant, unexpected, Machiavellian.

rmc28 asked for Jyn Erso, along with some others. I'll get to the others in the next installment.
Jyn Erso
Why I like them: I have a fondness for cynics who become believers, and when we first meet Jyn, she is 100% the cynic, who won't fight for anything.
Why I don’t: She doesn't survive. :(
Favorite line: The one about rebellions built on hope.
Favorite outfit: Does she have more than one outfit in the movie?
OTP: Jyn/Cassian
BroTP: Jyn and Bodhi
Headcanon:
Unpopular opinion: Although I would have liked to see more of the Rogue One crew, I accept that they needed to die. I can be unhappy about it and approve the resolve it takes to kill off characters.
5 words to best describe them: Worn, cynical, passionate, risk-taking, anti-authoritarian.

I am in a cook-and-feed-people mood (still), and I have finally invited a couple of friends around for a BBQ lunch tomorrow. She's stay at home, and he's usually working from home, and I thought maybe they could take a lunch break at my place for a change of things? IDK. I probably should have invited them last week if I want them to come tomorrow. She doesn't check her phone often, and she's been a little disconnected during isolation.
Anyway, this morning I am cooking cinnamon scrolls. The recipe was for BBQ but I decided to do it in the oven instead because I'll do the BBQ tomorrow, one way or the other. And I'll do it before lunch and take the results to my mother's for lunch today. B1 has just gone off to her half-day of carer work, and who knows what B2 is doing.
Hopefully the scrolls turn out nice, though...

like, the rebellion left her for dead and the empire threw her in prison and i just love her so much and i'm GLAD she found her heart again but i wouldn't have blamed her if she just held herself close forever
