Still going with the fannish character meme, just slowly.

This one is the Buffy and Angel-verses version, and after typing these answers out, I went back and re-read my notes on the 'virtual season 5' that I plotted out for Angel. And wished I had time or inclination to finish it off...

Ah well.

Asked for by [personal profile] rmc28:
Buffy Summers
Why I like them: I liked her kickassness back in the day. There weren't many kickass female characters at the time, and seeing one who was capable, sassy, and unapologetic, while still trying to navigate growing up was really enjoyable.
Why I don’t:
Favorite season/movie/book: I didn't manage to get through all the seasons in the end and I haven't gone back and watched it, but my fondest feelings are about Season Two.
Favorite line: Okay, I suck at remembering specific lines by characters. I can visualise scenes, but it all seems kind of foggy and distant, and half the time I can't recall if that was something I saw in the show or something that I imagined in my head.
Favorite outfit: I liked the stylish teenager look of S1 and S2, but also some of the later seasons more camo-functional outfits. And the alt!Buffy in the Wishverse (who really dressed a bit more like Faith) was very hip.
OTP: Buffy/Angel, always.
BroTP: In my headspace, Buffy & Faith. In canon, Buffy & Willow.
Headcanon: I only have vague memories of how it all ended, but I had a whole "Angel S5" kind of setup in my head, where Faith turns up in LA to work at Wolfram and Hart and things go very differently. Buffy turns up in the last couple of episodes, and she and Faith and the Fang Gang go up against the Powers That Be.
Unpopular opinion: I actually liked Buffy/Riley through S4. In spite of his 'blandness', I liked that he could match her and that he was 'normal' for a value of normal that's allowed to go out in sunlight.
A wish: See 'headcanon'. Also, that Angel got mortality/devampirised but was allowed to continue to be a warrior, and they finally got to make a go of it.
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: I really disliked Buffy/Spike. I think I'm the minority there.
5 words to best describe them: Young (she'll always be 'young' to me), quippy, direct, kickass, growing.

Fred Burkle
Why I like them/Why I don’t: Fred was nice, friendly, and earnest... To be honest, Fred was not one of my favourite characters. I didn't mind her, but I couldn't connect with her uncertainty and shyness, and for some reason she didn't have the quirkiness that I enjoyed in Willow. (It might be because Willow was also a computer geek in the 90s, which I was familiar with. Also, possibly, I was more forgiving of characters back when I started watching BtVS.)
Favorite season/movie/book: In Season 4, she got some darkness, which made her more palateable, but...still not by much.
Favorite outfit: Did she wear traily dresses at some point?
OTP: Fred/Gunn
BroTP: Fred & Wes - particularly doing spells and casting.
Headcanon: Not sure I really thought enough about Fred to have much headcanon.
Unpopular opinion: I didn't like Fred/Wes at all. Also, I was really cross that Gunn couldn't take Fred's 'darkness' and that was why they broke up in S4.
A wish: That S5 had featured more about the Fang Gang using the W&H resources to take out TPTB at W&H's upper levels.
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: Illyria. Look, Fred was not my favourite character but that was just meh. Although the actress really got to do some meaty acting there; but...I didn't like the Illyria storyline.
5 words to best describe them: sweet, earnest, frank, tentative, young.

I'm glad I found BtVS late (the show was already on season five) and that I didn't know about online fandom, because I'm sure that the shipping wars would have endlessly annoyed me.

(My Buffy pairing wish: Buffy and some normal human, someday when she's "cookies" instead of cookie dough. This is why I was okay with Buffy/Riley, mostly. Not an OTP for me, but the basic idea works.)

Fred: Hee. I picked her mostly out of "Well, probably no one else has chosen her for the meme?" Although I was fond of her--more than you, at any rate. I think a lot of it was identifying with the skinny, flat-chested white woman. (Because, well, yeah. *raises hand* Not as skinny as I was then, but still flat-chested.)

I definitely had more fun watching Amy Acker as Illyria than you did. But Amy Acker playing against physical type is always enjoyable to me. Even though I have problems with some of the writing for Root on Person of Interest, I still liked watching Acker in the role.

Hahaha, that icon still cracks me up every time I see it.

Interesting. We appear to have opposite opinions on... well, damn near everything.
