A friend I now consider 'former' once scoffed at the idea that we should be generous and considerate when we had plenty and the moral high ground.

Looking back, she wasn't a particularly nice person; I just never ended up on her nasty side.

However, these days her politics are exclusionary and centered around people like herself because her habit is to be selfish and unconcerned with people who aren't like her. She learned how to behave when she had much, she won't learn any differently when she has little, she'll just get scrappier and meaner and more selfish.

UGH. I have no use for people like that.

Ouch. Well, good thing she's former because yikes :( That's unpleasant to be around.

That's. Really frustrating. I'm sorry to hear that. I'm glad you never ended up on her nasty side, because people like that do tend to have a lot of self-justifications for when people end up on their nasty sides. It sounds like you drifted apart, and that's the easiest way to have a break from someone like that. She may never learn, but here's hoping there will be a lightbulb moment. Someday. Somehow.

Wow. It always sucks to lose a friend, but in this case you're probably better off without her ...
