Yes. My mum's bolognaise is a staple: mince, onion, and a lot of tomatoes. Add herbs, vegies, and spices to taste. I like to add a cup of red wine and a couple of tablespoons of balsalmic vinegar.

Yep. Quite a few during COVID, although the last one was a bit salty...

Plenty of them. My mother's coconut cake is incredibly simple: 1 cup SR flour, 1 cup coconut, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup milk, 125g butter (half a block here in Au), 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla. Mix, pour into tin, cook at 180C for 30-45 minutes.

Yep. Both buttercream and the icing-sugar-and-lemon-juice kind. (Goes really well on the coconut cake.)
9. Cooked a pot roast with all the veg?
We don't do pot roasts so much around here. I did lamb shanks the other night, though. Some of that'll be lunch today.

No. Whole chickens, whole ducks, even once a whole goose, but never a turkey. We don't do turkeys much here in Australia.

Yes. ...and I have potatoes in the root bin. Must dig them out.

I recall serving pizza to a group of friends...and only later realising that one of the guys was allergic to almost everything on that pizza. *facepalm* In my defence, I was nineteen living away from home, and had never encountered anyone with that degree of food allergy before.

...isn't the oven the only way to roast vegies? Otherwise they're boiled vegies... Although my stepdad boils them first, then fluffs them up and roasts them for the last 30 minutes to get their outsides crispy and toasty.

Fried? Or deep fried? Frying in a frypan is easy enough. Deep frying with batter is another order of difficult - although I've done it for zucchini flowers and eggplant before.

No. Haven't got an ice-cream maker and I'm not going to do the churning thing myself.

Yes. I have a ridiculous amount of apricot jam in the cupboard right now. But right now there's also mulberry, kumquat, and quince-and-strawberry jam in the fridge.

Scalloped potatoes are just potatoes sliced into flat-ish round bits, then baked in the oven with milk and cheese (and seasoning if you want). There's three or four names for it, but just baked cheesy potatoes.
Grits are corn - corn kernels dried out and ground, like you do with oats. No one outside the US South has much clue what these are, much less eats them. Think polenta! (Er, if you have polenta in AU...?)

I've eaten grits before, I just forgot exactly what they were. And no, I haven't ever made grits from scratch. Although I might this summer if the corn I'm growing does decently. Last seasons' corn was a bust; barely any ears, and none of them properly pollinated: I blame the drought, then the three weeks of rain that turned up right as they were supposed to be pollinating...
