How come they can't get you the tools you need? What's wrong? I know there must be a reason, but it's so frustrating for you and several other people. Ugh. I hate hearing that you're continually subjected to this!

Security clearance.

I need a Java Runtime Environment on my computer to do this one piece of development work. Most workplaces don't allow you to just install the JRE on your computer, you have to be cleared for it.

In this case, I need to level up my clearance - which I've done all the processes, now I'm just waiting for the authorisation which could be anywhere from 3-6 months.

We applied for an exception to get the JRE installed, but they're not granting it. Ironically, if my security had come through two weeks earlier, like everyone else, then I might have been able to get it installed...or, then again, maybe not. It's a little torturous around here.
