Woke at 5:30am stressing about some work that I didn't quite complete yesterday.
Started work at 6:30am, got the work done around 10:30am.
So tired. Tomorrow will be 33C. Cat is yowling at door.
Drowning in peaches now. They're not as big or as tasty as they were in previous years. Also need to net the apples before the flies get to them. Chooks have worked out their pecking order and are more or less getting along. Every now and then you hear an outburst in the yard, and everyone's a little wary of everyone else, but nobody getting totally picked on.
I think we might do the merging of the chooken in the new coop this weekend and let the feathers fly as they may.
NaNo is...not happening the way I want it to. Story feels flat and so do I. Don't think I'm getting enough sleep.
I want to post a list on Holiday Wishes, but it's all frivolous stuff that nobody will fill - you know, the usual "fic about my OTPs" (whom nobody actually writes except for me) and unpossible things like "a bottle of Rodham Rye" (after it's all sold out) and "the third book in Melanie Rawn's Exiles trilogy: The Captal's Tower" (twenty years after she published the second book in the trilogy).
Also, none of it needs filling. I'm not in need; COVID is being managed quite well in my country, and the things that I'd really like to see happen in the next year are mostly out of my control: Sky News Australia stops selling lies, Scott Morrison grows a spine and a conscience, we start working to both slow and combat climate change, the US Senate flips Democrat and shit actually Gets Done, my friends are safe and secure financially and physically and emotionally and spiritually...
*sigh*
Mal is yowling at the door and I have back and neck aches bordering on pain.
My work contract is up for renewal to mid next year. I have agreed to take it on.

Glad to hear that you have fruit and that the chickens are making peace.

My job is just that - a job. It's a career only in the sense that I've learned what I need to in order to stay employed. I don't actually love the learning new things; I'd be reasonably happy doing the same job for a really long time - in part because the solving of programming problems is so different every time that I don't particularly need to learn anything new.

But everyone is different, and it's completely reasonable to not want to cram stuff in your brain that you are not interested in.
