We're going to have to go with the hard cone of shame instead of the soft one, and she's gonna HATE that. We've sedated her up, though, and may end up keeping her on it for the next few days until it's had a chance to decently heal up - 3-5 days they said...

Yeah, I know. We are sincerely contemplating caging her (so she can't rub it off), and bringing her out for mealtimes only, a bit like if she was in a vet hospital.
