Utterly and completely shot.

I even got a full night's sleep last night, mostly by taking a couple of painkillers.

To do this evening:
- return laptop that has issue with keyboard
- finish Day 3 chapter of 7 Days, 7 Chapters (Jenna trespasses onto Gina's land and Gina is intrigued enough to invite her to tea)

"Dion?"

He was picking himself up, staggering a little with his hand to his head. The stain of blood on his hand seemed very dark in the dappled shade beneath the canopy, but where the sunlight hit it it gleamed scarlet. "I'm fine."

"You're bleeding." I glanced around at the glade of little creatures, who'd flocked around their wounded, some comforting others. "What the hell happened?"

"I have no idea." Dion's shoulder heaved with rough breaths, as though he'd run a marathon. "The binding spell on the chain broke and it never has before."

It wasn't an accusation - the tone was bewildered rather than blaming, but I stiffened nevertheless. Too accustomed to being the scapegoat, I glanced around at the clearing, where the feline Fae tended to their injured - possibly their dead. Those who weren't dealing with the injured looked at me with large wary eyes. I looked away, down the trail which the Bali Fae had left.

"Is it worth going after them?"

Dion propped himself up against the rockface and groped inside his jacket for something which he thrust at me. It looked like a gun - if a gun had faintly gleaming sigils on it that faded as I took it from his hand.

"It's a Glock-22, modified," he said roughly. "Spits bullets, but they've been spelled. Don't pursue them into populated areas, don't drive them to risky levels. If you have to take them down, take them down, but we'd prefer them alive."

I blinked, a combination of terror and exhilaration rushing through me. "You're sending me out in pursuit? Alone?"

"I'll be following behind. I just can't run." And when I hesitated, he rolled his eyes. "Overdramatic, remember? To protect Earth from all the inimical forces of Faery?"

I got a vaccination appointment - early July and later July. With Melbourne in lockdown and Victoria on edge for a virulent strain that escaped Adelaide, all of a sudden getting a vaccine has become more of a priority...

A friend is planning to trawl a nearby hospital that's also a vaccination clinic after a fortnight, apparently they'll be offering 'spare shots' after their day's appointments are done.

I really want to do a TikTok to Tom Jones' 'Sex Bomb' but call it 'Lock Down'.
