Played hockey, one in goals, one on the field.

We lost the one in goals (it was a very good goal and we had so many opportunities but the team is still new and couldn't make anything of the beautiful passes right across the mouth of the goal), but won the one on the field.

I didn't score any, but I was the assist for the first two. First goal I passed the ball in front of the goalie when she came out to match me. And then I crashed into the goalie because I had no capacity to turn on a dime.

She and the other backs complained of me to the umpire, that I'd taken out the goalie, but frankly, that's shitty. I've played goalie before, and that's the risk you run when you run out to meet the ball: that they'll pass it around you if they have someone and you'll be screwed. And sometimes the player's velocity will meet your goalie gear mass, and their velocity will win.

The second goal of our five goals today was also assisted by me, once again getting it around the defenders until it went into the goal. Sadly, nobody counts the assists on goals in our competition. Last player to touch the ball has the goal listed under their name and that's it.

Unfortunately, later, while trying to tackle a ball, I ran into another woman from the side while trying to tackle a ball past her. She was bent over and saying that her neck hurt. The opposing backs complained to the umpire, who either hadn't seen or hadn't thought it significant. They stopped play so she could go off, and I think they tried to get me carded. The umpire didn't, but they did say that the next time it happened she would have to card me.

At least one of the players who was marking me later was a lot nicer (or more philosophical) about it. Which is a relief. But...both the women I ran into were eyeballing me later. In the way that suggests if they had a cricket bat and no consequences. *sigh*

Back is a bit achy, but it was pretty okay during play. Mostly, I think, it got twitchy when I let it cool down...

I hope your back feels better.

I hate people who complain about things that are normal to the game. I mean, come on, if they'd done it, they'd be bitching that someone got in their way. Cry babies.
