It's the last public holiday in most of Australia before mid-spring. We have this HUGE three month gap from June to October which hasn't got a single public holiday in it.

I whine about this every year.

And then I take a day or two off through July and August, and sometimes one in September.

I have my Pfizer scheduled on the 1st and the 22nd, and have taken the 2nd and 23rd off. And then I've asked for the entire first week in August off. But I don't know if that'll be necessary, because I don't know if I'll still be working then.

Is it going to rain today? It's kind of hard to tell. WeatherZone says '10% chance' with rain expected on Wednesday. I should go out and collect more leafmulch from down the road. Also, talk to the neighbours about raiding their bins for grass clippings.

I guess I could do that now that I've finished all the writing I'm going to manage for the FFFC.

I finished the binding on the quilt last night, and need to make a label, and to sew on the hanging sleeve for the quilt. I can do that tonight, probably.

And then from here it's All The Quick Quilts for the end of the year...

I had Pfizer and didn't really have any after effects. I was just really tired the first day.

We have a period like that in the USA. It's February until the end of May. (We now have Martin Luther King Day in January. When I was younger it was January until the end of May.)

Lack of public holidays is a legit thing to complain about because enough people complaining can make a push for public change! It's actually why many Canadian provinces (but notably, not ALL provinces) adopted a Family Day in February. There was just too long a stretch until Easter some years. Bring it up with your legislative representative!

Also yay, vaccine! :D

We have nothing between the end of May and the end of August, and then another looooong stretch of workworkwork which only eases off at Christmas. But the first half of the year is awash with public holidys, ludicrous, really.

I am mesmerised by your icon - have you posted a picture of that glorious thing in full?
