Second jab, so far only an ache in the arm and an urge to bake.
Wait, I had the urge to bake anyway.

Sydney's numbers are going up. I still think this could have been caught back if they'd gone hard when it was in a high-income, native English speaking, geographically 'stay put' location. It's spread from one low-income local area to another, and if we get out before August, I'll be really surprised.
Anyway. Most of the rest of the country is angry at NSW (or possibly NSW leadership, it's not always easy to tell in posts and tweets), seeing as half of Australia is presently in lockdown, although South Australia should be out in a week, and Victoria will probably be out in a couple of weeks.

My birthday will likely fall in lockdown. I'm thinking of holding an all-day zoom party, allowing people from all time zones to come in and chat/talk/do whatever. I've taken the day off, but if we're going to be in lockdown then actually doing anything is out of the question...

I did end up baking today - potato gratin (potato bake) - a really good recipe that I'll have to use again sometime. The gratin went to a community charity meal that is run by one of the local churches: they provide around 36 meals to the homeless/indigent of the area, and there's a food pantry available for people to pick things up. Bakeries and supermarkets provide fruit (and sometimes veg) that's less-than-perfect and probably unsaleable in the shops, and my church is on a roster to provide dinner every 4 weeks or something? But we only really have to make something once every three months.
So I did the potato gratin, some honey carrots, and peas. These are not people with complicated tastes, so I just went with simple. No need to get complicated (although the making of the gratin was something of a production, the results were really good).
ps. Have I mentioned that I love the dishwasher? I REALLY LOVE THE DISHWASHER.

I'm feeling a little inferior in the gardening department right now.

Everything I've seen has been angry at NSW leadership,
and also at eg the two unrelated teams of NSW removalists who spread COVID to VIC/SA and regional NSW by not taking appropriate precautions after being told they were positive
and at the people who had a massive illegal Bondi party during lockdown
but not at the NSW population in general
I've seen a lot of sympathy for the NSW population that they don't have a Dan Andrews type leader...

It's very nice that you bake for that meal provision. GO YOU!
