Sitting on a deck looking out at forest and glimpses of harbour. The mozzies are a problem, but the serenity ain't bad...
(And for those who've seen The Castle, the ferry is just coming in for the 7am round, so...there's that, too! :D )
I don't plan to leave until at least midmorning, probably later. I can get a couple thousand words written before then. Just need to knuckle down. GRARGH.
Slept pretty well last night. A few persisting noises around the place - mostly inside, buzzing lights, etc., but otherwise peaceful. Interestingly, because there's no cars on the island, it's super-quiet at night. Seriously, if you had a party here, everyone on the island would probably know.
I do wonder how one actually manages to afford a place here. Given how exclusive the island is, property can't exactly be cheap. And the people I've seen here are a mix of ages - my hosts can't be older than me, and they (and several others) have children who caught the ferry across yesterday afternoon. While there are older folk (ie. "older than me" - 50s-60s, at least, possibly 70s?), I imagine the hike home would be a detracting aspect, particularly once your kids have grown up and moved out.
I know, wondering how some people afford things is one of those 'how long is a piece of string' questions.
Anyway. Writing.

Pat would love it. This is why he loves camping so much. He gets away from lights and noise and he sleeps better.
