Another pretty full day yesterday. All-day (9-3pm) course for my permaculture group, then I dug out an elder bush. 
It was a lot. But it needed to be done, because it's been growing way too much, and also spreading runners out into the grass and through the garden bed. Anyway, got it out, will have to follow up getting all the little runners out. In the meantime, someone is taking the elder bush and I am good with that.

Your battle with the elder bush reminds me of my battle with a Wisteria vine. I literally dug a hole that was several feet deep to get the tap root out. Those things are insidious.
