I ended up going with Coopex (permethrin) because it was the easiest to get and is also a residual pesticide, so should last for a couple of months. If we have to do a withholding period for eggs, then we'll manage. We only have one layer right now, everyone else is on a break...
But I will never ever ever get another wooden coop - particularly not one of these with all the little slots that look so nice but are hiding holes for mites. Have to start collecting things, and maybe will be able to replace this one by next summer. (The guy down the road in the Original House On This Street - as I think of it - offered me some corrugated iron, and I turned it down at the time. Now I have to go around and ask if he's still got it...
