Game yesterday, we lost 4-1. They were a good team, had good plays, and yeah, they totally outplayed us. It didn't help that we were missing almost all of our halfbacks but one, so a lot of us had to sub into the halfback line when we're a forward-heavy group (and most of our forwards can't play any other position).
I was forward for about 2/3 of the game and then ended up as a halfback for the last 1/4 of the game (and spent a smidge of time off). Had a couple of shots on goal while I was a forward, but were blocked.
One of the issues we were having was that our backs are not good runners (although solid hitters), and the people who were in the half positions were either not very good tacklers/interceptors, or not very good runners. Our opponents had some fast-running players who were really good at getting the ball around our backs, and our halves didn't have either the ability to move as fast as the people they were defending against, or didn't have the knowledge of how to chase someone down and either tackle them or force them to pass the ball (and possibly screw up in the process).
So they kept getting it past our midfield/backs and then it was just them and the goalie, who did a really great job, but when they keep taking pot shots, then sooner or later something is going to go in.
I think I played well. Tiring, but well.

Yeah, your goalie needs good defense in front of them to have a chance at a winning game. I see that all the time in ice hockey.

I'm away on the course this weekend, then it's Easter. The weekend after that is the course, and then I might have a game, before there's another week of course...
*sigh*
Definitely going to need to keep a little fitness up...
