Generally speaking, significant (read: costly) changes to a home don't usually get returns worth their value. A pool, for instance: rarely does the homeowner get the amount paid for a pool installation back in the resell. It may sell faster due to the pool, but if you pay to put a pool in your yard, it better be for you and not for the future resell value of the home, is what I'm saying.
I have a sunroom off the master bedroom, put in by the previous owners. I like it! But I didn't pay much more for this home than the surrounding homes were going for at the time.
All of which is to say: your attitude is probably a good one! Make a change to your home because it pleases or benefits you, not some theoretical future resell.
