The wife of the friend who tested positive on Saturday night (she's also a friend) tested positive on Wednesday, but only messaged me about it on Thursday. I RAT tested negative yesterday morning.

Going for a PCR this morning (Friday) and crossing my fingers (Jonas-Quinn-style).

I have been feeling exhausted and a bit under the weather; it might be COVID-lite, but it might be a slew of other things, too.

Anyway, considering my birthday:

You should spend your birthday outdoors, away from home, in the safest way possible. A botanic garden, a public park. Bring a book and take in the air. I hope it's a good one when it arrives.

A botanic garden was going to be my suggestion also! I know it’s winter where you are, but some places have a different kind of beauty then. The beach would work for this too if you like the beach.

I am thinking the open verandah of a restaurant if the weather complies...

I'm thinking a local club/restaurant/cafe has a roofed verandah area which is open and outside, and they're open from 10am. I am seriously thinking about spending the entire day there...

I'd bring my laptop for writing, a couple of books to read (some on my tablet) and, yes, relax my way through the day, just taking space.

As I explained to my mother yesterday when she asked what I'd be doing and if I'd like to have lunch with her, "I'd like not to have any responsibilities, social, personal, interactive, nothing." IDK. I just need rest, very badly, and it's difficult to find. (Ironically, the topic of my bible study this week.)

Happy birthday! I think given everything, can you find something gentle to do that you also enjoy? I had my own enjoyment recently of a day or two mostly on the sofa (if not actually in bed) with a pile of books on my kindle.

Thank you! One thing I don't want to do is spend the day at home. In part because I spend most days at home, working from home and fretting about the house and its issues, and so being at home is an effort - plus, I end up feeling like I should be Doing All The Things.

So I'm going to try to spend the day at a nearby club that has an open-but-covered verandah space where I could sit, have a drink, have lunch, have a cocktail, while spending the day writing and reading without having to interact with everyone.

I love my friends and my family, but I do feel a little exhausted lately.

That sounds like a lovely day, I'm almost envious! And yeah, actually, I'm sure it helped that my days on the sofa were in someone else's house - I'm home and not working today but uh, there's a bunch of things I need to do.
