I woke on Saturday not feeling tired! Got up and did a little stuff in the garden, then my mother dropped in with a present and gave me a lift up to the local community garden where I met people and did a bit of work in the garden.
Walked from the community garden down to the station, caught the train a couple of stops down the line then walked to the local bowling club, which has an indoor area and a covered outdoor area, and a decent menu.
I sat there and wrote and read and ate and drank for the next five hours. I also ended up sitting in three different spaces - "in the lounge" because the woman who showed me in heard I want to just sit down and have a drink and food as I don't intend to eat a plated meal, and tucked me into a corner when the dining room was hardly busy. Then I moved to the dining room because I thought the covered outdoor area was 'reserved for the people bowling', before I realised that only half of it - the far end - is set up for the bowlers. Then I asked to move out to the porch for dessert because the couple sitting directly behind me were coughing pretty steadily and I was Not Comfortable At All.
Walked back up to station, caught the train to my suburb, hopped off and went to Saturday night church before the sistren picked me up after doing a dinner run. I answered all the messages and texts and comments I'd received, and retired to bed with two kitteh.
Thinking about why I did what I did: I've had a very busy year, a very social one - lots of weekend activities and gatherings of people. And I stay home all week for work, seeing not much beyond the boundaries of my property except for the handful of things I attend regularly during the week: church, hockey, bible study. So going out by myself and not staying home or socialising was a pleasant change for my birthday - and it was a pleasantly restful day.
Now, back to work this week, hope that I get the October holiday authorised, and see how things go with the tattoo next weekend.
