Mum was feeling not-great last night, took a RAT test at midnight. She's positive again.
Boxing Day brunch with the stepbro & sSIL & nephlet is cancelled. And the Boxing Day dinner we were attending to catch up with our cousins is likely out of the question.
Poor mum is stressed about wrecking our holiday plans - not just ours (her daughters') but also the stepsib's attendance, which stepdad was really looking forward to (spending time with his grandson). I'm worried about her, and also that the hosting pressure from yesteday may not have helped her health at all. And stepdad is antsy about the time that he gets with S (grandson), to the point where yesterday he was all "they're arriving at 8am, do not turn up until at least 10:30 so I get time with grandson!" And now he doesn't get any.
My five days up north from Friday is looking shaky. We'll see how I test on Wednesday (first day I can actually get a PCR) and how I feel over the next couple of days. I trust the PCRs rather more than I trust the RATs, but they're becoming far more difficult to access.
On the upside: the completely failed pav doesn't matter anymore.

B1 wants us to hold Chinese New Year at our house.
*looks around at the everything that is everywhere*
*sigh*
That's a little over a month away.
Although B1 has time off, she'll be too tired, too busy, or too stressed to sort through/throw out/move any of the stuff. Or else, she'll just squirrel it away in her bedroom and pile it high amidst all the other stuff that's squirrelled into her bedroom. And B2 casually leaves her clothing on hangers in the lounge room and in the hallway. (It doesn't help that we don't have a spare room for her.)
Oh, and I'm sure B2 will end up being here 24/7 all week. If she wasn't already.

I have a sore throat, but I've had a sore throat for weeks. (And you've just reminded me I need to take my antibiotics.) And I'm tired, but I've been tired a LOT lately. So it might just be business as usual, or it might be covid. Who can tell?

That being said, your mother should take it easy now, not overdo it in any way -- as if, what with mothers -- and definitely avoid another re-infection with masks of perfect fit and social distancing. The damage from COVID-19 accumulates; each one does more damage (less so in vaccinated and boosted individuals, but even we are not safe).
All the best to your family!

Yeah, we've all been masking up outside the house - the twins are in healthcare and childcard, I'm hypochondriac (according to B1), and the parentals are pretty cautious. But, yes, I'm super concerned about the accumulation with re-infection, particularly because the year has been full of medical and cosmetic procedures for mum and she's been slow to recover.
(And yeah, it's very low-key family drama, but about as big as we get around here! For which I am grateful - don't get me wrong - but hoo boy, it's just a little more stuff that I wish I didn't have to deal with!)
