IDK, I'm feeling very restless today. Not sure why. I did wake up tired, and then do a bunch of kitchen-ish things before 10:30am when uncle&aunt turned up - Dad's older brother & wife. The 'nice but not exactly conversational, he's almost certainly autism spectrum and my grandfather was not a good parent for him'.

They brought "gifts" with them, by which I mean things they want to be rid of but didn't want to throw out. Last time, it was two Minnie Mouse teapots. I disposed of those on the local group Waste Not Want Not.

This time, it's a bunch of socks (we gave them the socks last year) and three packages - one body care, one nail care, one makeup.

The makeup is so old the cardboard packaging around the plastic case has that yellowed cardboard look inside, two of the eyeshadow cakes have what looks like mould on them, the foam eyeliner pads have disintegrated, and the mascara brush tip has dissolved entirely - when I opened the mascara tube, it ended in a twist of wire...

More stuff for the Waste Not Want Not group. Except this time I think I'm going to say that I'm going to pick who it goes to at my leisure, because have you ever noticed how the same people come by again and again and again for the re-saleable stuff?

It's Lunar New Year - Kung Hey Faat Choi, etc.

B1 wanted to have the cousins over, at least back six weeks ago she did. Did it happen? No. Because that would require cleaning, sorting, and tidying, none of which we are particularly good at.

That said, I have Cantonese Roast Pork drying out in the fridge, but it will take an hour and a half to roast tonight. We have all the bits for zhongzi making tomorrow should I so choose. There's even fresh vegies in the fridge for cooking...

It would help if someone would clear the dishwasher so the space is clear and empty...

...and (three hours later) in the end we bought a roast chicken from a local shop.

So I'll probably roast the pork tomorrow morning in time for lunch, and make the zhong while chatting with American friends around 10:30. They can be kept a few days in the fridge, or a little longer in the freezer, so that'll be fine.

Anyway, Happy Lunar New Year!

Happy Lunar New Year!

Oh dear, the "gifts" haha... Over time I've learned that sometimes people gift you things specifically so you can throw them out on their behalf.

Happy Lunar New Year! :)

Local groups where you can give away (or swap) stuff are one of my relatively few reasons why I have a facebook account. I love them!
