One reason I don't invite friends out more often is beceause, I guess, I had it indoctrinated into me that couples do couple things and they don't want a tagalong. There's a whole discussion to be had about singles and where they fit into society, and particularly Christian society, but, yeah. It's a bit awkward for me to be the one bringing that up

In pre-COVID days, I loved having meals with single friends one on one without my partner. It's a nice vibe just to have your friend to yourself sometimes.
And it made way more sense for my partner to go have dinner with his best friend from high school by himself than to have me tag along. (My partner's best friend from highschool, Bill, doesn't bring his husband along to dinner either.)
Sometimes it's nice to socialise as a couple,
but it's also normal/healthy to spend some time socialising independently.
