Technically it's 7 Days, 7 Stories: write a story each day.
I'm not going to be able to do it this week, just too much on. Barely enough time to breathe, let alone write. I have the ideas, but just not going anywhere.

Woke up early to watch Eurovision. Okay, not that early. Missed the first hour. I always go into Eurovision mostly cold turkey because I just don't have the time to listen to the songs beforehand. Heard Austria (on the tickyapp) and went and listened to Australia so I had an idea of what we'd be doing.
Two notables for me:
- Austria because it was boppy.
- Croatia because it made me laugh.
The others kind of passed in a blur, as they do every year.
But I do have Australia's entry in my head. It's my type of song in tone and tune.
That said, I only saw a link to New Zealand's unofficial entry this morning - Open Up! (YouTube) - and I love it. Excellent humour.

Permaculture group meeting tonight. So many things to do:
- bring sewing (grab sister's mending bag?)
- bring supper (persimmons and teacake)
- bring stuff for the swap-and-drop table
- return books (if I can find them)
There's a lot more deadweight on the committee than action.
The President is too busy and not a people-person. The VP is running her own permaculture business and tends to sidetrack far too easily. We don't really have a secretary on account of the last one more or less doing a rather large amount of work for the two years he was in, and then resigning from the committee and...kind of vanishing.
Actually, a few people who've been on the committee in the past just kind of vanished from the group once they left.
That's a thought; probably need to look into that.

Anyway, in the aftermath; I went, I spoke, there was chatting and mending and food and it was a good night. I think we need a few more nights like this through the year - just nights where people sit down, listen, talk, spend time. Nothing too formal but the chance to meet and connect in ways that aren't always possible when we have a speaker. (There's supper afterwards, but it doesn't give time for people to benefit from the broader group, just little conversations in clusters.)
I know some of the older members feel that we go to meetings for the learning, and people should come to other events for the social connection, but this is one opportunity that we have to gather people together in larger groups than their local groups or the handful of people who are involved in an event. It's a chance to let the conversations wander where they will in ways they usually don't when we have a speaker.
Last night, a guy came in - new guy, cycled in from the west side of town, talked a little bit about his background and where he was from, his permaculture journey. It was a night that invited the opportunity to share a little about your life, and for many people to listen in, add their comments and rejoinders, instead of being so formally structured and thereby limiting?
IDK. Maybe it's the piece that the group is going to need going forward. This year feels like things have slowed down, perhaps even stopped. Or maybe I'm just really tired.
No, I'm really tired; and also things have slowed and maybe even stopped.

Hockey tonight (it's now Tuesday). Bible Study tomorrow night.
I kind of want to do dinner with local friends on Thursday night. Just tell them I'm going to be at this restaurant at this time, please come and join me if they've got time/space.
Friday and Saturday have no plans, probably moving things back into the house and back into the sorting/tossing cycle of stuff.
Sunday is an online chat with the SJHW (online friends for a fannish aeon) and two games of hockey - one on the field, one in goals.

If they could be more social and less "organizational" I might enjoy them more and stay. But nope.

I am thinking of hosting quilting afternoons/evenings, where people can bring their handsewing and just sit around and chat for a while. IDK. At this precise instant, it feels like a lot for a couple of hours of socialising... Also, I do feel like I do a lot of organising of social gatherings. That's exhausting, too.
