Joining the local gym is one of the best decisions I've made in a while.
Go for a run anytime. Early in the morning? Fine. Lunch? No problem! Late at night? Can do!
It is literally 2 minutes drive away (and yes, I usually drive, in part because when I first started going, my feet hurt from the new shoes and by the time I got to the gym I didn't want to run) although I often incorporate it into another trip: a morning grocery run plus coffee.
Also, I go at lunchtimes, when I wasn't able to get up that early, or I don't want to go late at night.
So I've been running at least a klick a couple of times a week every week since January. Just one klick, takes around 8-10 minutes: walking, jogging, sprinting by variety. Some weeks I go more often than others, there was at least one where I didn't get in at all because of the window renos.
End result? I've been playing a full game of hockey without getting exhausted, and sometimes able to manage a portion of a second game. (Although the week I played two full games I was exhausted.) And I'm pretty happy with it.
The advantage of a single klick is that I can do it just about any time - I can fit it into my day - exhibit A: lunch today, when I finally got off my butt and my computer at 1pm, drove down and went for a run - mostly to stretch my muscles after yesterday's two games.
I like the personal training, too - better muscle stability, better strength, knowing I'm getting a good workout in. I do wish they had classes, though - pump (weights), step (stair), or zumba/jam (choreography) - I'd go with one of those pretty well. Hm, maybe I could try one of the old 'les mills body pump' series some time with some free weights and the gym area with mirrors. I know the moves off by heart with the right music, and it might be a good replacement for my personal training after this set of PT sessions finishes. (I might take a break for a while, then pick the PT up again when hockey stops.)

Eating healthy is a harder thing these days, though. Winter's always a bit of a difficult time: warm food, tired me. Soup is great, but it's also a bit of effort to put together (at least initially).
Oh damn, I still have half a baked pumpkin in the fridge. Maybe I could freeze it and then scrape it out later for pumpkin mash to go in scones and pies and other things. I really want to make a pumpkin pie, but don't really have the time right now...

I'm enjoying my gym membership a lot too, for many of the same reasons. My gym chain has a lot of classes, which I liked trying out, but now I'm focusing on PT.

Also, my current time is not terribly convenient - 11am Thursday, which is not only in the middle of the day, but in the middle of a daily work meeting where we're supposed to update what we're working on. (I do skip it more often than not, or forget that it's on, or don't properly connect, but still. Should turn up...)
Mostly with the classes, I like the music. Something to sing along to while working out.
