Why is there always so much to do in the garden?

I have a TO DO list (handwritten) on the study desk. I went out this morning, to do a bunch of things - and I did the bunch of things and they were very productive...

But none of them were on the TO DO list!

Which just means it's a whole bunch of things that I have to do tomorrow in the early hours of the morning, before everything gets crazy hot.

It's "heatwave week" here in what should be spring - we're only just reaching the equinox. Estimated temps will be up to 34C in my area. And we're a relatively cool area - about as much heat-absorbing national park as houses-and-roads, unlike the suburbs out west. It will be cooler closer to the ocean (ocean absorbing more heat, and breezes off the water), but who can get to the ocean right now in the midst of work etc.?

Anyway, I think I've got the garden set up today for the heat at least. Might need to go out and water a tomato that's looking a bit dried out (the chooks have had at its root system so it's probably a bit disturbed), and dump a whole load more mulch on at least one, maybe two garden beds...

The TO DO list for my garden, btw, does not include the TO DO list for the community garden.

It also does not include the TO DO list for the possibility of opening up for a gardens display later this year...

Good luck with the coming heat. We have finally got over ours I hope. It was too hot this year, my garden didn't produce as much as it did 2 years ago.

I mulched the flowers but I plant my stuff in buckets in the ground with holes in the bottom. It saves water to just water the buckets and not the stupid weeds. I put down canvas after putting in the buckets so I would have a lot less weeding to do. Worked like a charm. Will be doing that every year from now on. Less weeds. If it keeps getting hotter every year we won't be able to plant. This year I planted at the end of May instead of at the beginning because the cold that should have been gone stayed around. It was too cold to plant. Then it became so hot I didn't get much. I'm hoping the real cold will be delayed so I can get some more time to get veggies. Hope all will be good for your garden.
